After being an indie game developer I begin to doubt myself

Hi,everybody, I am an indie game developer from china. I build an indie game studio with my friend.I work as the only programmer and my friend works as game artist. We design the game ourself, there is no game design documents,when we need some feature we just discuss it and then work it out.We do this work as fulltime job,the game studio has been run about 6 months, but we only release a game : "Tap dragon".

We first release it to google play store, but we only get 10-30 installs per day. A week later we release the iOS version on appstore , the same situation appears. We earn no more than $500 per month. We don't known how to do the marketing, so the game keeps have very small installs. I have no idea what wrong with this game.
Is it a garbage game or we lose at the marketing? We need to earn money for life, raise kids, we began to doubt myself.I need your help, here is the link of my game, would you please try it and tell me whether the game is too awful or just the marketing problem. thank you very much.

iPhone Harvest - Trailer, and looking for new testers!

Hey everybody,

I'm Will from a tiny new company in Australia called Studio Zero (it's really only me, so it's a one-man studio setup). Previously I worked on the games InFlux, and Primal Carnage Extinction as their UI developer and decided it was time to make my own thing in July 2015. I just put out the first trailer for the game so I thought it would be a great opportunity to finally post here and see what people think, and possibly get some more testers on board.

Harvest is a game about running, jumping, dashing, collecting items, building, and upgrading a farm in a world where people don't care about health and safety..since you're always getting chased by a combine harvester!

Harvest features:

• 30+ playable characters
• Build and upgrade your farm
• Dozens of challenges

I have also included range of accessibility settings like colourblind modes, optional screen shake, and you can even change the direction the game plays if you'd like! Some mobile games and endless runners omit settings like these but I like to make the games I work on as accessible as possible.

I'm aiming to release Harvest in mid - late October on the iOS app store right before Melbourne International Games Week, where I'll also have a booth at PAX Australia this year. But before then, if anybody is interested in doing some quick last minute playtesting and feedback giving in about a week or two I would love to hear from you!

Well, with all my respect to toucharcade reviewers the genuine enjoyment and strong emotions provoqued by this game on me drived me to give my 50 cents.
Eisenhorn Xenos is a game developed by Pixelhero Games, the same that gave us the incredible Spiral Episode 1.
Its based on the book of the same name, wich i learned is part of the profuse Warhammer mitology. Frequently some releases are heralded as "a true console experience in your ios device" with doubtful merits. Eisenhorn Xenos is one of the few examples on appstore that deserves this statement. Not only for the graphics, wich are great on the base of the Unreal Engine 3. What we got here is a complex game that combines sucefusly a great and profund story, hack and slash mechanics, stealth, light puzzle solving. One close reference may be the first Batman Arkham Asylum, but this time taking a complex and contradictory character, a detective that works for the imperial warhammer factions. In a gaming world plagued with one-dimentional characters, Gregor Eisenhorn is (im gonna cite some Warhammer geeky blog) a sort of Citizen Kane tormented by his memories, remorses and their contradictions with his strong values. It seems that the merit of the creation of such rich character belongs to the original writer of the novel. But, what im saying here is that Pixelhero deserves the merit of capturing this complex and contradictory escence on a game. The rithym of the story is developed with the care of film directors. Sometimes i feel a strong urge to solve a puzzle or win a fight just to learn what happens next. Does the game has flaws? Maybe. Combat animations as some reviewers noted are a little clunky.
But the game allready weights arround 3 gb wit those great graphics (in contrast to the 7gb of pc version, nice optimizing work, pixelhero) how many extra storage could more detailed animations take?
The mechanics for me are okay, making me remeber those original of console Arkham Asylum, a little striped down, of course (my god, most ios users use the touchscreen for playing. probably bringing more complexity on combats could made the interface less friendly). Also, as toucharcade reviewer stated the story is sometimes a little confusing and maybe a litlle dificult to follow on some parts for no-Warhammer-habitues. I must agree only in part with this with some observation: I know little of Warhammer mitology. Just the knowledge provided by other ios games. Sometimes i needed to rewind some piece of the story to follow the meaning but, with some deduction i managed myself to understand the narrative. I think that the apparent flaws of the game are the other side of it strenghts: some sacrifices must be made, to fulfill the mission of bringing complex and profund gaming experience to the plattaform. My only constructive critic to pixelhero fellows concern to marketing desicions on the way they managed PC version. Its true that the PC version (wich i also purchased) feels a little dated on steam competitive context. Ifeel they could made a better move releasing this version right now on ios and take some longer time to make a remastered HD version for PC. Such desicion, maybe, could been helpful in promoting the deserved succes on PC plattaform. Anyway, i must agree with pocketgamer review that gave the game a strong 9 considering it a GOYT. Also, in a totally subjetive point of view, pixelhero gave me a 10/10 experience. Do i have some personal relation with pixelhero. No. Im just a fan of their work. What do i expect in change of providing a little support with this positive review? Nothing more than motivate this team to keep up the good work and invest again in such quality gaming experiences in the future. A lot of mobile gamers like me need them and value them a lot. Highway Runners

Hi there,

Following this forum for a while but never having taken the action to post, I wanted to finally present my project now that it's showable (and even, almost ready!).

So this is an old-school racer, typically in the vibe of Outrun and similar. You don't drive against opponents, not to make the best lap or other form of competition, but simply for fun, and to discover the different environments proposed in the game. This adds a "freestyle" touch to the game, which is not far finally from an endless runner, with some randomness but basically scripted levels (turns, hills, opponents are randomized each game though).

We opted for very simple game mechanics using accelerometer from the very start and sharply fine-tuning the controls and fluidity. While a lot of people told us they were skeptical, they all got accustomed to it and us too, thinking it's just part of the fun and the challenge now.

What's more, the game currently also runs on PC and iOS (we use Cocos2d-x). There is a pretty advanced and visual level editor coded in C++/CLI, that we plan on maybe releasing later so that everyone could do his own circuits. We are three, me as a coder, Steeven Flores as graphic artist and Cactus Bear (http://ift.tt/1HBTSpL) as musician. Since it's our first "pro" project, we shared a lot of tasks together, like game design and level design. All in all, we made the game just like we would have imagined bringing our beloved arcade machines on our phone.

Getting email spam by developers AGAIN..no need for it!!

This is not an isolated incident. For the past few weeks, I have gotten unsolicited email from developers wanting me to beta or alpha test their apps.

First, there is no need for this since they can post in the forums for such testers. Second, with the inability to delete messages, they just occupy space. And thus if they mass spammed them to everyone, there are that many of those useless messages in people's inbox occupying space on the server needlessly.

So why are people namely developers allowed to do this? I never have asked the people involved that I was interested in doing so. Sure I have mentioned to few developers on apps that I am interested in. I think it has been months since I have done so in forums since the last few were sign ups on developer websites.

I do hope TA staff look into this. TA has my permission to look at my message box to see these messages.

It is one thing to announce in forums for testers and totally another when get massed blast to mailbox. And I do hope TA hold these developers accountable.

Agree with Roger, this looks fantastic. I typically don't like 'rolling' type puzzles but this one seems to have lots of cool concepts that I can't resist.
