Hello all,
I just wanted to announce my new game "Fugl" (working title, means bird in norwegian). It will be a flying game in 60 fps featuring procedural voxel terrain, hunting and a fun wind model.
A 60 fps video can be watched here: http://ift.tt/1DMB1Bi. Sorry, I cannot embed because it only shows the 30fps version and that looks very bad. 60 fps works only in HD, and doesn't work in Firefox. Also I cannot seem to link it with URL-tag. Help please!
This is a very early prototype with only one kind of terrain, the finished game will of course have a lot more variance, with several different "biomes", like forests, cities, deserts, etc. Also wildlife you can hunt to get energy for flapping the wings. You will also be able to customize your bird, by combining different dna from eggs you find while playing.
The object of the game at this point is simply to survive and fly as far as you can. Enemies and volcanos are planned, also a detailed wind model with updrafts and turbulence.
The controls are touch-based (dual stick style) with each thumb controlling a wing. It works pretty nice, imo. I will of course implement controller support as this is perfect for a game like this.
I'm looking for feedback at this point, but also testers and people who want to contribute with voxel models to spice up the procedurals. I'm just a hobbyist though, with a real job on the side, so I cannot promise something gigantic or somethign fast, but I just loved how community responded when I released my first game "Melodive", so I want to put it out here and see what happens...
I'm planning a 2015 release for sure, and it will of course be premium and not a single IAP-purchase.
Cheers,
Johan
