TouchArcade App leaking personal information?
I really enjoy Toucharcade and its iOS app, but I recently noticed that everytime I use the iOS Toucharcade app, it sends over HTTP the following information to the server 162.254.16.206:
- DeviceUUID
- DeviceUID
- DeviceName
- Device Model
I understand TouchArcade may want to know some stats like the device model... but do you guys really need our Devicename (which is kind of personal) and our UID/UUID ?!
This feels a bit like gathering too much data from your loyal users...
I would be grateful if you could provide us with some more context as to why you collect this info?
PS:
You are also exposing your API password in Base64, but you might not really care about that.

But I will be curious as to why. I can't imagine this being useful information, just forms of data collection on the types of devices that use the app.

I would still argue it is kind of personal, as for many people their device name may actually be their real name.
Just like you though, I am wondering why they would need that type of info hence my question on this forum.
